Results on Packing Tests

These tests were run to evaluate “Elastomeric Materials in Sour in Sour Gas Environments”
under testing specification NACE Standard TMO187-87.

Tests on sample after exposure Result Description
Tensile Strength 2280 PSI 0.250×0.191 (W x L)
Ultimate Load 109 lbs. 0.250×0.191 (W x L)
Ultimate Elongation 560% 0.250×0.191 (W x L)
90 Degrees Peel Adhesion 64 lbs/in 1.000 inch with average on ten readings on two samples
Durometer Hardness 76
Other tests results for changes in Mass, Volume and hardness after exposure to ASTM No: 3 oil at 400 F and 500 F for 22 hours.
Changes ID Before 400º After 400º Before 500º After 500º Percent

Avg. Mass A 31.009 29.620 30.627 28.032 -4.5 -8.5

in Hardness B 91 98 91 98 +7.7 +7.7

Based on the above tests and results at 400 F, the rubber becomes harder while losing a small amount of both mass and volume.
Based on the above tests and results at 500 F, the rubber becomes harder while losing about 10 % of both mass and volume.
